The ability to be able to change people’s lives for the better so they can improve their opportunity to remain independent and participate in life to the full, drives her work with the older population.
Rhonda is a member of AHPRA and the Australian Physiotherapy Association.
Rhonda O’Neil Physiotherapy home visit services was started after noticing there was a need for personalised, highly skilled physiotherapists to help older members of the community in the comfort and privacy of their own home. After a hospital stay many patients were deconditioned and requested strength and balance exercises be continued in their home to restore their confidence with mobility and be safely independent again. Patients who had undergone cardiac surgery needed Cardiac Rehabilitation to prevent further cardiac issues and regain their confidence with exercise. Pulmonary rehabilitation is highly recommended for anyone with lung disease due to overwhelming evidence for the success of home based pulmonary rehabilitation courses.
Research shows that it is very clear that exercise targeting strength and balance training as well as everyday functional activities prevents falls. Everyone over 60 can benefit from falls prevention exercise from those who walk slowly with a walking aid to others who may attend the gym and walk for more than 30 minutes. People who undergo cardiac rehabilitation have a far less chance of recurrence of cardiac issues and develop a greater confidence to progress exercise and activities they enjoy. Research supports that the majority of people with lung disease should improve their quality of life and reduce breathlessness after an 12 week Pulmonary rehabilitation program.
With over 20 years‘ experience giving treatment to seniors in our community you are in very good hands. For confidence and peace of mind you will always have the same therapist coming to your home. You can be confident that not only will your therapy be evidence based and effective but it will be delivered in accordance with strict COVID-19 policies and procedures to protect you and your family.
The benefit of a home visit means there is no need to organise transport. Also we can target any activities you are finding difficult in your own home such as stairs and general mobility in your community. We are committed to working with you towards achieving your goals and gaining independence in doing the activities that bring you joy.
